HullCC not sending council tax bill's
It has been brought to my attention that the Hull City council has not been sending council tax bill’s out to people and sending a reminder letter that states that you have to pay your council tax within 7 days or risk having court action taken upon yourselves for none payment but there is a snag, people like myself have received the reminder letter that in this case was issued on the 03 June 2024 and was delivered via Royal Mail on Wed 13th June 2024 a sun of 10 days after the issue date that falls outside the 7 days that you have to pay your council tax instalment as they send these letter’s 2nd class and the royal mail does not prioritise letters over parcels like they used to before they where privatised meaning that you could have legal action taken against you even though that is it well known that the royal mail does not prioritise letters and they are been delivered well out of the time frame they should be as such councils should extend the amount of time that you have to make the instalment.
There is also an issue with contacting them and speaking to an advisor, I have rang several times trying to get to speak to a human as council tax bill’s have not been delivered so people do not know how much to pay on an instalment or what date it is due by and have sat on the phone for hours and sitting in a queue.
This is a known issue with council’s within the UK and court action is taken even though its not your fault but the courts within the UK will always side with the treasury after all its them that pay them.
What happens if you have legal action taken on you?
As you are probably aware the court will side with the council even though the issue is with the royal mail and the council that your under stating things like “you have to pay your council tax”, yes I agree but why charge people court costs when the council is not issuing bill’s or the Royal Mail is loosing them (unlikely)? you you pay for goods that you do not know the price?
Personally I am not confident of the current law system in the UK, its as corrupt as the people that run the country (they make the laws) and are above the laws of the land, just look at party gate scandal where the PM was charged £50 for breaking the law that we all had to follow.
